The Bridge

CoinMarketCap #718939
In an exciting development and new opportunity for the Kaspa community, Chainge Finance, a leader in the cross-chain DeFi space, has successfully launched a native Kaspa to Wrapped Kaspa (wKAS) custodial bridge on the Ethereum network. This launch unveils a new spectrum of opportunities for Kaspa users, including direct bridging on Chainge’s decentralized exchange (DEX) mobile app from the Kaspa network to Ethereum and now possible utilization of Ethereum’s established DeFi ecosystem.

By enabling direct bridging on Chainge’s intuitive DEX mobile application, this bridge allows for a smooth, secure, and effortless transfer of assets from the Kaspa network to Ethereum. This introduces Kaspa users to the diverse world of Ethereum’s renowned DeFi ecosystem, transforming wKAS into a passport to a vast array of decentralized applications, such as the DEX Uniswap.

These platforms allow users to lend, borrow, or participate in yield farming activities. For instance, through yield farming, users can provide liquidity to a DeFi protocol, earning interest and fees in return, effectively making their assets work for them. Lending and borrowing platforms like Aave and Compound allow wKAS holders to expand their wealth or access other assets using their own cryptocurrency as collateral.

This transformative bridge doesn’t just open Ethereum’s world to Kaspa users, but it also invites Ethereum users into the Kaspa ecosystem. With wKAS available on the Ethereum network, Ethereum users can now directly purchase wKAS and participate in the unique offerings of the Kaspa blockchain. The bridge’s capability also ensures a swift and easy conversion between wKAS and native Kaspa, thus creating a reciprocal relationship that benefits both ecosystems.

The launch of Chainge’s custodial bridge is pivotal for both Kaspa and Ethereum. The bridge doesn’t just offer more opportunities for asset diversity, but it also cultivates a broader DeFi landscape where Ethereum and Kaspa users can engage. The overall result is a more inclusive, interconnected, and dynamic blockchain experience that elevates user possibilities on both platforms.

Wrapped Kaspa

wKAS, an ERC-20 token representing Kaspa on the Ethereum network, is at the heart of this development. By creating a bridge between the Kaspa and Ethereum networks, wKAS allows users to engage in Ethereum’s vast DeFi ecosystem using their Kaspa holdings.

wKAS contract address: https://etherscan.io/address/0x112b08621E27e10773ec95d250604a041f36C582

Users are urged to confirm this contract address before interacting to avoid scams or fraudulent tokens that may impersonate wKAS. As always, it is crucial to exercise caution when trading or using tokens, and users should verify details before any transactions.

Chainge: DeFi Powered by Cross-Chain Fusion DCRM technology

Chainge Finance is a pioneer in the DeFi space, with 40+ integrated chains supporting over 1600 assets. By integrating with Chainge, Kaspa users can now maximize their wealth potential in a secure, flexible, and worry-free financial environment.

Chainge’s core objective is to improve people’s quality of life by providing a wide range of decentralized financial solutions, all of which are neatly packed into a seamless and straightforward user experience. This allows anyone, anywhere, to freely benefit from its services.

Cross-chain Capabilities

The Chainge Finance cross-chain aggregated DEX offers various capabilities to users, such as bridging, cross-chain swaps, and cross-chain roaming assets from multiple networks to another within seconds. Additionally, holders can earn up to 12.28% APY on stablecoins without experiencing impermanent loss on futures liquidity pools.

Chainge also provides unique functionalities, such as a decentralized form of staking called Time-Framing, which allows users to assign a purpose to a certain amount of wealth for a defined period while maintaining full ownership rights over their assets. This essentially means users can make money while they sleep, generating passive income through Chainge Time-framing and liquidity pools.

Additionally, Chainge offers a decentralized escrow service that replaces traditional commercial contracts, ensuring all contractual conditions are met swiftly and securely when transacting with strangers.

Chainge also recently launched a VISA virtual credit card along with hardware cold wallet pre-orders.

Fusion DCRM, celebrated for its steadfast security, has an impeccable four-year track record, confirming its reliability in the complex world of digital security. With a commitment to transparency and empowerment, Fusion is gearing up to unveil a series of comparative technical materials, offering insights into DCRM’s security strengths in contrast with other available technologies. These materials aim to support users in making informed decisions about their digital security. In parallel, a revamped website is on the way to enhance user experience and provide easy access to pertinent information.

The Future of DeFi

Kaspa users can now benefit from the Ethereum ecosystem through the new Chainge Finance custodial bridge from native Kaspa to wKAS. This development presents an exciting opportunity for Kaspa users to delve deeper into the world of DeFi, leveraging the power of Ethereum’s vast network.

Users interested in exploring Chainge’s offerings can download the Chainge app, available on both iOS and Android app stores.

Wrapped Kaspa offered by Chainge marks a significant step forward for the Kaspa community. With access to the expansive DeFi ecosystem, the possibilities for Kaspa users are now more extensive than ever before.

Android: Google Play Store

iOS: App Store

Tip: Users are, for now, only able to bridge KAS in the mobile app, but they will also be able to do so in the web app in the future.

Kaspium Initial Setup

Though Kaspium is in test phase, you wouldn’t know it with how easy it is to use, the seamless experience, and wow… this wallet is CLEAN. The simple minimalist design gives an immediate sense of transparency, usability, and control upon opening. The screen space is well organized and optimized for accessing transaction history info, balance, and wallet functionality.

Sending and receiving KAS from the convenience of your mobile phone couldn’t be easier or faster with Kaspium running on the Kaspa network. The wallet supports QR codes making transactions quicker, more accessible, and practical. The mobile interface supports multiple wallets, address management, and authentication using device biometrics.

Kaspium is compatible with 24 words Kaspad CLI wallet secret phrases, an added security from the 12-word secret seed phrase of the web/desktop wallet. However, it’s important to note that the desktop and web wallet currently use a 12-word secret phrase; you currently can’t import those existing wallets to the mobile platform.

Note: Kaspium is in test phase and may be subject to minor bugs and glitches. Kaspium is non-custodial, meaning the user is solely responsible for backing up the wallet’s secret phrase. The secret phrase is only stored securely on the user’s device. Therefore, losing the secret seed phrase will result in a loss of funds.

Dag Knight Consensus Research Publication: Completed

A published research paper discusses an innovative new consensus mechanism planned to be integrated into Kaspa. This new consensus mechanism, called DAGKnight, is an improvement over the GHOSTDAG protocol and is expected to result in even quicker transactions and confirmations. DAGKnight Paper.

Upgrade consensus to follow the DAGKNIGHT protocol: Funded — In Development

Motivation

DAGKNIGHT (DK) is a new consensus protocol that achieves responsiveness while being 50%-byzantine tolerant. It is, therefore, faster and more secure than GHOSTDAG (GD), which governs the current Kaspa network. Furthermore, in DK, there’s no assumed hardcoded parameter k (latency parameter), which can adapt to the “real” k in the network. Concretely, clients or their wallets in DK should incorporate k into their local confirmation policy of transactions.

Goals

  • Complete the R&D work necessary to implement DK for Kaspa.
  • Implement DK on Kaspa as a consensus upgrade.
  • Add support and API for wallets’ transaction acceptance policy to correspond to DK’s confirmation speed.

Applied research

  • Adapt the consensus algorithm to enforce a global maximum bound on network latency, which is necessary for difficulty and minting regulation, pruning, and more.
  • Devise efficient algorithms to implement the DK procedures — the current pseudocode is highly inefficient. The implementation will partially utilize the optimized GD codebase, as the latter is a sub-procedure of DK.
  • Research the optimal bps regarding confirmation times, and provide a recommendation.

Implementation

  • Implement DK on the Kaspa rust codebase as a consensus upgrade.
  • Design a transaction confirmation policy API and implement the supporting functionality in the node.
  • Documentation of consensus changes and API additions.

Backward compatibility

  • It breaks consensus rules and requires a hard-fork
  • Adds (and potentially breaks) RPC API

DAGKnight

KASPA Rust Language Coding: Funded — In Development

Developer Michael Sutton is currently conducting a rewrite of Kaspa’s programming language from Golang to Rust. This switch will boost Kaspa’s overall performance/speed, allowing for unheard-of transactions and blocks per second with conservative estimates of around 32bps. This rewrite is an integral part of the foundation to achieve Kaspa’s future goal of reaching 100bps! Rust is a high-performance programming language that allows for intense race-ready concepts to be implemented which fully utilize modern computing hardware. This enables such things as parallelism — the ability to simultaneously process different blocks on different CPU threads.

Latest Rust Update

Mobile Wallet Development: Testing

A mobile-device wallet is currently being developed and in testing. Many in our community have expressed the need for a high-performance mobile wallet option. This mobile wallet will add to the already existing Kaspa wallet options: web wallet, desktop wallet, and Command Line Interface Wallet. Currently operational for use, it may have minor bugs and will be available for iOS and Android app stores.

Kaspium Mobile Wallet

Integrate Kaspa for use on Ledger: Funded — In Development

Thanks to a 24-hour fundraising blitz, development is underway for you to be able to send & receive your KAS quickly, securely, and easily from the safety of your Ledger. To safeguard your KAS holdings on the industry standard hardware wallet platform is just another step towards our goal of creating an everyday and safe use currency. Tangem wallet is also in Development and may arrive sooner than Ledger.

2023 White Paper: Development

Although there are numerous research papers written about Kaspa’s technology, an official white paper is being scheduled for release. This white paper will thoroughly combine Kaspa’s past research and current goals into a cohesive, consumable whole document to inform beginners and onboard developers.

Archival Node Improvements: Development

Currently, there is no P2P communication for archival nodes that allow them to exchange usually pruned data. Improvements to archival Nodes enable Kaspa to have a more thorough block explorer to revisit past transactions beyond Kaspa’s pruning point. Due to Kaspa’s pruning mechanism, transactions on standard nodes can only be visited three days in the past. With Archival Nodes, this will no longer be an issue allowing for more historical data sets to be retrieved.

Smart Contracts Implementation : Planning

Kaspa aims to become the fastest, most scalable, and most secure Layer-1 PoW crypto. And while Kaspa has already reached this benchmark, some fine-tuning still exists for peak performance. However, performance for the sake of performance is not the end goal of Kaspa. The broader goal is to create the ultimate Layer 1 to implement smart contracts, Defi, and Layer 2 applications over it. Kaspa hopes that a future ecosystem will arise on Kaspa that will be as strong as the foundation and wonderful community that helped birth it.

Tip: Development takes time. Most of Kaspa’s development is like coding into the unknown, feeling around a pitch-black cave for a way to build a house. We would instead the devs take their time and get it right than get it wrong by rushing and pressuring them. Patience is vital for success.

An ever changing/growing list of Kaspa questions, concerns, and misconceptions for beginners and new users.

Where can I buy Kaspa?

CoinEx, MEXC, TxBit and TradeOgre

What wallets to use for Kaspa?

https://medium.com/kaspa-currency/kaspa-wallets-non-custodial-wallet-options-for-kas-8b473ff01c60

Why does Kaspa wallet address keep changing? — Should I change my mining wallet address?

It’s for increased security and your privacy, so no one could link your different payments (sent or received) to a single entity. Wallet addresses change every time the wallet detects it is used, but it doesn’t invalidate these addresses, they keep being absolutely functional, specifically you can continue mining to the same address as before, regardless of what it currently shows you.

What happens when all Kaspa coins are mined?

According to code, once the emissions are low in a couple of years of KAS per block, transaction fees will help pay for mining. There are many coins that face this ‘end of emission’ phase, BTC included.

BPS and TPS

Conservative Estimates: Currently Kaspa operates at ~1BPS and ~200TPS. Theoretical Estimates Rust rewrite: ~32–100BPS and ~6400–20000TPS

Ledger and Hardware Wallets

Currently being developed. See — Whitepaper and Roadmap/Developments

Whitepaper and Roadmap/Developments

A formal Kaspa whitepaper is on the roadmap and for the time being, the GhostDAG paper serves the whitepaper: https://eprint.iacr.org/2018/104.pdf

Roadmap/Developments — https://kaspa.org/developments/

Wen _____ development?

Usually a rough ETA is anounced at proposal. Once development has started, there is a multitude of situations that may arise from the unknown and cause delays. Kaspa is in it’s infancy and it’s better to have a fully working product than to rush.

Kaspa Whale Alert

https://twitter.com/kas_whale_alert

What is the Kaspa’s contract address?

Kaspa is a L1 PoW coin, not a token, so no contract whatsoever.

Are there going to be master nodes?

No, all nodes are equal. Kaspa totally isn’t a PoS coin.

Is staking possible?

No and it will not. Not PoS.

Can I have a profit by running a node?

Nope, no direct profit. But it gives you the fastest ping for your mining, and a full control of the node and wallet functionalities: you won’t have to seek for a public node with the RPC port open, and won’t need to hope it’s healthy, well-versioned and non-malicious. This way you are also strengthening the decentralization and stability of the Kaspa network in general.

Delegators, anything else from a PoS universe?

No, purely PoW philosophy, Kaspa is Nakamoto’s spiritual heir.

NFT

Nope. Maybe on L2.

Why is Kaspa better than PoS coins that don’t use much energy, are also “very fast”, and have smart contracts?

Proof of stake (PoS) systems end up being much more centralized than many Proof of Work systems for the following reasons:

– PoS creates a “rich get richer” system — the more coins you hold and stake the more voting power you have to create new blocks. These tokens also earn more coins through staking. Since these individuals don’t need to expend resources to stake (unlike in mining), they can simply increase their overall staking amount as they earn more coins from staking rewards, and exponentially grow their influence on the network over time, forever. With PoW systems you can’t infinitely expand. There is a limited amount of energy / equipment / land leading it to be more decentralized also.

PoS systems often have very few validators — Many big name cryptocurrencies have as few as 21 block producers. A far cry from Bitcoin’s thousands of nodes. This means it’s much easier to get compromised. The main point of a cryptocurrency is to be immutable and decentralized otherwise it makes more sense to just use a database shared with 21 people.

Kaspa uses less energy than many other PoW coins because of the hashing algorithm used — Optical Proof of Work

L2s are only becoming bigger and Kaspa will be able to support L2s and smart contracts in the future. It’s important first to get a decentralized and secure base layer with less features. It’s easier to build on top of secure bases than to make the base more secure after things are already built on it.

#L2s and smart contracts

Does Kaspa support L2 features?

No. At least not yet.

Will Kaspa implement smart contracts in the future?

When it becomes the ultimate L1, someone, or many someones, will implement L2 smart contracts over it. The Kaspa community will eventually provide any L1 support needed for a well thought design of L2.

L2 and smart contracts implementation discussions are led in the #smart-contract-brainstorming channel of the Kaspa Discord server.

#Tokenomics

Tokenomics, emission, and minning.

https://medium.com/kaspa-currency/tokenomics-emission-and-mining-6653cc473a7a

Why am I seeing different max supply’s in different places?

In a nut shell, the hard cap in the code is 29 billion but overall supply is an estimate, due to the halving schedule being on daa scores, rounding, original gamenet random rewards, and possibility for emission to reduce with faster block rates.

Kaspa coins can now be stored effortlessly and securely on various platforms such as Desktop, Web, Android, and iOS.

Put your money where your custody is.

A non-custodial wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet where users maintain complete control over their private keys. This means that the user is solely responsible for keeping their private keys safe and managing access to their funds. Users do not need to rely on a third party to hold and manage their private keys, such as an exchange or online wallet provider. This type of wallet is often considered more secure than non-custodial wallets because users control their funds and do not need to trust a third party with their private keys.

While hardware wallet support is on its way to the Kaspa network, there are currently four live Kaspa wallets to choose from: Kaspa Web Wallet, KDX Desktop Wallet, Kaspa Command Line Wallet, and Kaspa Mobile Wallet, which is in the test phase of development.

Kaspa Web Wallet

Kaspa Web Wallet is the most user-friendly and secure wallet on the network. The simple and easy-to-use interface makes it breeze to send and receive payments. Head to https://wallet.kaspanet.io/ to create a new wallet, record your 12-word seed phrase, follow the seed phrase prompts, and you’re ready to roll.

KDX

KDX is a desktop wallet you download and install. It’s a process manager that provides zero-effort installation and configuration of the Kaspa full-node software, miner, and Kaspa Wallet in a single GUI-based facility. Like the Kaspa Web Wallet, it uses a 12-word seed phrase. You can use KDX in ‘Kaspad node’ mode, which can be used as a node and wallet (Full Wallet), or ‘CPU/GPU miner’ mode, which allows mining to KDX local node.

Kaspa Command Line Wallet

The Kaspa Command Line Wallet is part of the core Kaspa node software bundle and is maintained by the core team. It uses a command line interface (console) to operate. This wallet doesn’t use a GUI and requires some knowledge or experience executing commands or coding. Recommended for users that are Kaspa/crypto enthusiasts and looking for a minimalist experience.

Kaspium

Kaspium is an easy-to-use cross-platform (Android & iOS) non-custodial mobile wallet for the Kaspa network. Kaspium features an easy-to-use interface with support for multiple wallets, transaction history, address management, and easy authentication using device biometrics.

This wallet is compatible with 24 words Kaspad CLI wallet secret phrases. This wallet is perfect for users that like touchscreen functionality or want to keep their wallets on hand. It offers a clean interface and a versatile experience. Moreover, it’s a wallet that can live in the pocket again. Although Kaspium is live, it is still in a test development phase and may experience some bugs and glitches. It isn’t available yet on app stores and the Test APK will need to be downloaded and installed on your mobile device.

Note: Non-custodial wallets ensure the user is solely responsible for backing up the wallet’s secret phrase. The secret phrase is only stored securely on the user’s device. Loss of the secret phrase will result in loss of funds.

It is Better to Rust Out than to Wear Out

Kaspa is currently in the development stage of rewriting its current Golang programming language to Rust. A well-known language for its memory safety and performance. A Rusty Kaspa will benefit the blockchain by making it more efficient, operations with tighter performance, and is less prone to memory-related errors. In addition, the new codebase will boast improved performance and more network security. Rust also has a growing ecosystem and developer community, which could make it easier for developers to contribute to and build on simplified and modularized Kaspa.

90% into the Development Stage

Using Rust for the Kaspa platform may also improve its scalability. For example, Rust’s ownership model and low-level control over memory management can make writing concurrent and parallel code easier, which can help the platform handle more transactions and users without slowing down. Pushing speeds of up to 32 BPS and 6,400 TPS; potentially upwards to 20,000 TPS. Rust also has built-in error handling and can also make the code more robust and less prone to bugs.

Another advantage of using Rust is that it is a systems programming language. It is designed to be efficient and low-level, making it a good choice for applications that handle large amounts of data or perform complex operations. As Kaspa is a blockchain that needs to handle large data and complex functions, using Rust will enhance efficiency and operation.

Rusty Kaspa will enhance the platform in terms of performance, security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. This can make the platform more attractive for developers, users, and businesses and help Kaspa grow and evolve over time.

Here’s to a Rusty Future!

As a testament to Kaspa’s adaptability and forward-thinking ethos, DAGKNIGHT will be built on Rusty Kaspa, enhancing the chain’s solution to the blockchain trilemma and bolstering the network’s decentralization, security, and scalability.
